OOTD - Holiday Style

I am and always have been one who chooses comfort over fashion. I also rarely take pride in my appearance. This explains why when deciding what to wear each day 9 times out of 10 I; open my t-shirt drawer, pick the top t-shirt up, throw it on, finishing the look with some jeggings. This all changes if I’m going out for the evening or clubbing, then I take hours to get ready (typical girl sometimes).

Another time I enjoy making an effort is during the evenings of my summer holidays. I guess it’s the freedom, the animosity. I can explore different styles, without pre-conceptions of what I normally wear, or what suits my personality or what style is expected from me. If it works then brilliant I can embrace it, if not make sure all photographical evidence is erased and pretend it never happened.

Going on a friend holiday to Spain with 4 friends who are all very fashion conscious left me with dread, real nerves about what clothes to take on holiday. I didn't want to look untended in photos against my friends, but at the same time I wanted to make sure what I wore was me and not faked.

Additionally my lack of funds due to having lived the student life heavily for 3 years prior to this holiday meant the opportunity to expand my wardrobe was limited. This said, I think I brought more than I realised (along with mums help, I know you read this, thanks).

Outfit número uno:

Top: New Look, Shorts: New Look, Wedges: New Look
This was my favourite outfit of the holiday. Plain shorts with a plain lace top complimented each other. This also suited my figure; baggy while also giving a slimmer appearance.

Outfit número dos:
Dress: New Look, Wedges: New Look
This dress needs to be worn with leggings as not discreet when stretching and bending. Im glad I found this out before we headed to the local nightclub!

Outfit número tres:
Dress: New Look, Shoes: Tesco
One of my favourite dresses I already owned. Weather dependant this can also look good without the leggings.

Outfit número cuatro:
Dress: New Look, Shoes: Tesco
Not the greatest of lighting, however a nice summer dress for a decent price of £10 :)

Outfit número cinco:
Top: New Look, Shorts: New Look, Shoes: Tesco
The same shorts as in outfit 1, however with a more casual daytime vest top.

What do you think, from an outsiders perspective, do these suit me? What outfits have you been loving this holiday season?

Smooth Move

Food, I just love food! My staple diet tends to consist mainly of overindulging in; Costa, Subway, McDonalds, chips, chocolate, crisps and ice-lolly’s! These are my all-time favourites that satisfy my cravings!! Not healthy one bit!!! Ok so it’s not all entirely unhealthy, I do eat salad a fair bit as well. Thats a balanced diet right! hahaa

Prior to my holiday I wanted to make a conscious effort to try and improve my figure. This didn't entirely go to plan; however, I do think I looked acceptable in a bikini and did feel comfortable in it next to my best friends, all of whom have body’s id die for!  So I guess that is an achievement in itself.

One effort I implemented was to eat more fruit. You see, I do actually like fruit but the stigma surrounding healthy foods means I view them as boring. Also I never feel satisfied after eating fruit, I am always still hungry! Me and my sister remembered that stored away somewhere in the house was a smoothie maker. We dug this out, went to the shop and bought our fruit. We then threw a mixture of ingredients into the smoothie maker and hoped for the best!

My favourite so far is a strawberry and banana with natural yogurt smoothie. This is surprising, considering normally I dislike bananas.

Select chosen ingredients
Cut the fruit up into smaller pieces
Add fruit, 3/4 tablespoons of natural yogurt & a little bit of water into smoothie maker.
Mix together in smoothie maker, pour into a glass and enjoy!!
I've decided the art of smoothie making is trial and error – measurement guesstimates, trying of the initial outcome then amending/ adding extra if necessary.
