I am and
always have been one who chooses comfort over fashion. I also rarely take pride
in my appearance. This explains why when deciding what to wear each day 9
times out of 10 I; open my t-shirt drawer, pick the top t-shirt up, throw it on, finishing the look with some jeggings. This all changes if I’m going
out for the evening or clubbing, then I take hours to get ready (typical girl
sometimes).
Another
time I enjoy making an effort is during the evenings of my summer holidays. I
guess it’s the freedom, the animosity. I can explore different styles, without
pre-conceptions of what I normally wear, or what suits my personality or what style
is expected from me. If it works then brilliant I can embrace it, if not make
sure all photographical evidence is erased and pretend it never happened.
Going on a
friend holiday to Spain with 4 friends who are all very fashion conscious left
me with dread, real nerves about what clothes to take on holiday. I didn't want
to look untended in photos against my friends, but at the same time I wanted to
make sure what I wore was me and not faked.
Additionally my lack of funds due
to having lived the student life heavily for 3 years prior to this holiday
meant the opportunity to expand my wardrobe was limited. This said, I think I brought
more than I realised (along with mums help, I know you read this, thanks).
